Identify the purpose
Tell the business whether you are investigating repeated blockages, following up a repair or reviewing a property condition. Ask what a camera inspection can show and what it cannot establish. A video is evidence of the visible pipe condition, not a guarantee about every hidden connection.
Ask for a record you can use
Confirm whether you receive the video, location notes and a written explanation. Ask how the technician records distance and identifies branches or obstructions. If access prevents a complete inspection, have that limit written down rather than treating the incomplete recording as a clean bill of health.
Separate inspection from repair approval
A finding may support more than one repair option. Request an explanation of the proposed scope, permits and surface restoration before authorizing work. Portland’s official sewer guidance is useful for discussing shared lines and responsibility; the contractor should confirm the facts for the actual address.
If the inspection follows repeated clogs, bring the symptom history described in the recurring-backup guide. Any proposed sewer-line repair needs its own explained scope and authorization.
