Make the invoice specific
Ask for the room or equipment, the repaired component and the materials used. Keep the business name and contact details with the invoice. A vague description such as plumbing work can be difficult to interpret if the same symptom returns months later.
Keep the test and inspection information
Ask how the repair was checked and whether any permit inspection remains outstanding. If walls or cabinets were opened, clarify who finishes that work and whether separate drying is needed. Save photographs taken from a safe position without treating them as proof of concealed conditions.
Record what to do next
Keep the manufacturer’s instructions for new equipment and any written warranty terms. Ask what symptoms warrant a follow-up call and which shutoff serves the repaired fixture. For a rented or shared building, give the appropriate records to the responsible manager.
Compare the invoice with the responsibilities agreed in your plumbing quote. If the problem was a concealed leak, keep the repair and finish-restoration records together.
